Easy Two-Needle Adult Slippers

1. 1Cast onCast on 32 (34, 36) sts, leaving a 40 cm tail; you will use it for the heel seam. The cast-on edge becomes the heel of the slipper.
2. 2Garter bodyKnit every row (garter stitch) until the piece measures 18 (20, 22) cm, about 50 (56, 62) rows. Garter stitch stretches sideways, so the slipper hugs the foot comfortably.
3. 3Toe ribbingWork *k1, p1* rib the same way on every row for 4 cm (about 10 rows). The rib gathers the toe and covers the top of the toes.
4. 4Gathering the toeOn the last row, k2tog across: 16 (17, 18) sts remain. Cut the yarn leaving 60 cm, thread it onto the tapestry needle, pass it through all the stitches and slide them off the needle. Pull tight to gather the toe and secure with a few stitches.
5. 5Top seam and heelWith the same tail, sew the two long edges together over the top of the foot for 8 (9, 10) cm, starting at the toe; the rest is the opening for the ankle. Then fold the cast-on edge in half (16+16 (17+17, 18+18) sts) and sew it together with the cast-on tail; this seam runs vertically at the back of the heel.
6. 6FinishingWeave the ends into the seams. If you like, make two small pompoms from leftover yarn and sew one on each toe. Knit the second slipper the same way. For slippery floors, draw dots or lines of liquid latex on the sole and let them dry overnight.
