Crochet Flower Brooch

Instructions

Tap a section when you finish it.

1. 1CenterRound 1: ch 1, 10 sc in MR; pull the ring tight and sl st to the first sc (10). Round 2: sc in the same st, *ch 3, skip 1 st, sc in the next st* x4, ch 3, skip 1 st, sl st to the first sc. This makes 5 ch-3 spaces.
2. 2Inner petalsRound 3: in each ch-3 space work (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) and sl st to the first sc. This makes 5 small petals.
3. 3Outer petalsRound 4: working from the back, sl st around the post of the first sc of round 2. *Ch 5, sc around the post of the next sc of round 2 from the back* x5; the last sc lands where the first sl st is. This makes 5 ch-5 spaces behind the inner petals. Round 5: in each ch-5 space work (sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc) and join with sl st. The outer petals peek out between the inner ones.
4. 4LeafWith the leaf color, ch 8. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook: sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc (7 sts). Ch 1 at the tip, turn to the other side of the chain and work the same sequence back: sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc. Sl st to the first sc and cut the yarn leaving 20 cm.
5. 5AssemblyPlace the leaf behind the flower so its tip sticks out between the outer petals and secure it with a few stitches using the leaf's tail. Sew the brooch pin firmly to the back of the flower with needle and thread or with yarn. If you like, sew a button or bead in the center.
6. 6FinishingWeave all ends through the back. Shape the petals with your fingers and press them flat with a slightly damp cloth; cotton holds its shape once dry.
