Striped Crochet Glasses Case

1. 1FoundationWith color A, ch 34. Hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each remaining chain (32 hdc; the 2 skipped chains do not count). The length of the chain is the length of the case (about 18 cm).
2. 2Striped rowsFollowing rows: ch 2 (does not count), turn, 1 hdc in each stitch (32). Change color every 2 rows: rows 1-2 A, rows 3-4 B, rows 5-6 A and so on. To change color, work the last pull-through of the final hdc of the previous row with the new color; carry the unused yarn up the edge without cutting it. Work 22 rows in total; the last 2 rows are color A (11 stripes). The piece measures about 17 x 18 cm.
3. 3Folding and seamingFold the piece in half so the first and last rows lie on top of each other. With color A, work 32 sc along the long open edge through matching stitches of both layers. Turn the corner and along the bottom edge work 1 sc per row end through both layers to close the bottom of the case.
4. 4Top edgeJoin yarn at the open top edge and work one round of sc, 1 sc per row end, then sl st to the first sc. On the second round work 1 sl st in each stitch; this keeps the opening from stretching. If you like, make a ch-6 loop at the center of the back and sew a button onto the front.
5. 5FinishingWeave in the ends inside the case, running them through stripes of the same color. Dampen the case lightly and let it dry with a folded piece of cardboard the size of your glasses inside. For larger glasses, add chains to the foundation in pairs and rows to the width in pairs.
