1. 1BodyWith the 4.5 mm circular cast on 168 (186, 204, 222) sts and work *k1, p1* rib on every row for 6 cm. Change to 5 mm and continue in stockinette. When the body measures 38 (39, 40, 41) cm, end with a WS row. Dividing row (RS): k38 (41, 45, 48) (right front), bind off 8 (10, 12, 14) sts, k76 (84, 90, 98) after the bind-off (back), bind off 8 (10, 12, 14) sts, k38 (41, 45, 48) (left front). Leave the sts on the needle.
2. 2SleevesWith 4.5 mm needles cast on 42 (44, 46, 48) sts and work rib for 6 cm. Change to 5 mm and work stockinette; increase 1 st at each edge every 8th (8th, 6th, 6th) row 10 (12, 14, 16) times. (62 (68, 74, 80) sts) When the sleeve measures 45 (46, 47, 47) cm, bind off 4 (5, 6, 7) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. (54 (58, 62, 66) sts) Make a second sleeve.
3. 3Joining the yokeJoining row (WS), with the body yarn: p38 (41, 45, 48) left front, pm, p54 (58, 62, 66) of one sleeve, pm, p76 (84, 90, 98) back, pm, p54 (58, 62, 66) of the second sleeve, pm, p38 (41, 45, 48) right front. (260 (282, 304, 326) sts)
4. 4Raglan decreasesRaglan row (RS): *knit to 3 sts before marker, k2tog, k1, sm, k1, ssk* at all four markers, knit to end (8 sts decreased). WS: purl all sts. Work these two rows 15 (16, 18, 19) times. (140 (154, 160, 174) sts: fronts 23 (25, 27, 29), sleeves 24 (26, 26, 28), back 46 (52, 54, 60))
5. 5Front neck and final raglan decreasesContinuing the raglan decreases on every RS row: Next RS row: bind off 6 (6, 8, 8) sts at the beginning, work the raglan row. Next WS row: bind off 6 (6, 8, 8) sts at the beginning, purl to end. Following RS rows: k1, ssk (neck decrease), raglan decreases, k2tog, k1 on the last 3 sts. Work this row, alternating with WS rows, 6 (7, 7, 8) times. This makes 22 (24, 26, 28) raglan rows in total. (60 (64, 66, 70) sts: 4 per front, 10 per sleeve, back 32 (36, 38, 42)) Break the yarn; leave the sts on the needle.
6. 6HoodWith RS facing, pick up 12 (13, 14, 15) sts along the right front neck slope, knit the 60 (64, 66, 70) sts on the needle, pick up 12 (13, 14, 15) sts along the left front neck slope. (84 (90, 94, 100) sts) Starting with a WS row, work stockinette for 33 (34, 35, 36) cm. Divide the sts in half (42 (45, 47, 50) each), fold the hood with the wrong side out and join the top with a three-needle bind-off.
7. 7Band and buttonholesWith the 4.5 mm 120 cm circular, starting at the lower right front corner, pick up 92 (94, 96, 98) sts along the right front, 120 (122, 126, 130) around the face edge of the hood and 92 (94, 96, 98) along the left front. (304 (310, 318, 326) sts) Rows 1 and 2: *k1, p1*. Row 3 (buttonholes, RS): 4 sts in rib, *k2tog, yo, 15 (15, 16, 16) sts in rib* 5 times, k2tog, yo, rib to end. (6 buttonholes) Rows 4-7: rib. Bind off in rib.
8. 8FinishingSew the bound-off edges of the sleeves and body together at the underarms and close the sleeve seams. Sew the buttons opposite the buttonholes. Weave in the ends, soak the cardigan and dry it flat to measurements.
