Seed Stitch Knit Cushion Cover

Tap a section when you finish it.

1. 1Cast onCast on 81 sts on 4.5 mm needles. Because the stitch count is odd, seed stitch is worked the same way on every row (81 sts).
2. 2Seed stitchEvery row: k1, *p1, k1* 40 times. Repeat this single row. When worked correctly you purl the stitches that look like knits and knit the ones that look like purls, and the surface is covered in little bumps (81 sts).
3. 3LengthWork seed stitch for 306 rows in total, or about 102 cm. The piece will be folded into a 45 cm front, a 28.5 cm back flap at each end and a 12 cm overlap in the middle.
4. 4Bind offBind off in seed stitch (knit the knits, purl the purls). Dampen the piece and dry it flat to 45 x 102 cm.
5. 5FoldingLay the piece RS up. Fold the cast-on end in by 28.5 cm, then fold the bind-off end in by 28.5 cm; the two flaps overlap by 12 cm in the middle and form a 45 x 45 cm square. Pin the edges.
6. 6SeamingSew both side edges through all layers with backstitch using the yarn needle. Make sure you sew all three layers together where the flaps overlap.
7. 7FinishingTurn the cover right side out through the envelope opening and push out the corners. Weave the ends into the seam allowances. Insert the cushion through the envelope; the cover is easy to remove and wash.
