2. 2Soil and closingChange to dark brown. 3. 3Cactus body and armsBody (green): Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Rnd 2: inc x 6 (12) Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18) Rnds 4-20: 18 sc (18) Stuff firmly, sl st to finish and leave a long tail. Arms (make 2, green): Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9) Rnds 3-7: 9 sc (9) Stuff and leave a long tail.
4. 4FlowerWith pink or yellow; this is a flat piece, so join the round with a sl st. Rnd 1: 10 sc in MR, sl st to first st (10) Rnd 2: *in next st work 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc; sl st in next st* x 5 (5 petals) Leave a long tail.
5. 5AssemblyPlace the open end of the cactus body at the center of the soil, covering the gathered hole, and sew it all around through each of its 18 stitches. Sew the arms to the sides of the body, one at round 8 and the other at round 12, tips pointing up; tack the inner side of each arm to the body with a stitch or two for an elbow look. Sew the flower to the top of the cactus over the magic ring.
6. 6Spines and finishingWith white yarn, embroider scattered spines over the body and arms as short V stitches, each one stitch long. Weave the yarn ends through the cactus and pot. Shape the rim of the pot by gently rolling it outward with your fingers.
